In the soils of these lands, I am my ancestors,
In the soils of these lands, I am fed beyond my stomach,
In the soils of these lands, I am connected to the balance that is me,
In the soils of these lands, I am the beat of Mother Earth’s heart.

Food sovereignty, it continues to be the war on me,
Food desert, but there’s always been food in the desert,
I became fat when they took our food & water living away,
When they took my food & water thinking away……… from me.
But the seeds were planted in O’odham Himdag by I’itho,
So, I am Okay in the path of my people, in our connection to all things.

In the fields I am the connection of past and future,
In the fields I grow in the songs,
In the fields Himdag philosophies are planted,
In the fields I am harvested.

In the roots of ancient foods, I don’t exist in trauma,
In the roots of ancient foods, I don’t live in resistance,
In the roots of ancient foods, I am healing, I am today, I am tomorrow, I am my people.
I live in O’odham Himdag,
I live in peace,
I live in my power,
I live in the food of this soil,
Healthy in the presence of my Ancestors.
